In Vitro Fertilisation (IVF)

In Vitro Fertilisation (IVF)

IVF treatment means artificial insemination (artificially combining an egg with a sperm in a laboratory).

IVF (In Vitro Fertilization) is the process in which an egg is fertilized in a laboratory under conditions that best mimic a woman’s womb and then inserted into the uterus. A woman is stimulated with hormone injections to have a better and greater number of eggs. Once retrieved, the matured oocytes are then fertilized with the healthiest and strongest sperm collected from the male partner’s semen sample. Then ICSI (Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection), a technique through which the sperm is injected directly into the cytoplasm of the oocyte, is performed. This is done to ensure the maximum chances of fertilization. When successful fertilization has occurred, the embryo is then transferred into the uterus after 3-5 days. At this point, an embryo will take 1–4 days to attach to the uterine lining and begin a successful pregnancy.

When the embryo is introduced into the uterus, it is done through the vagina. This process is made successful during the transfer thanks to ultrasound guidance, where the best position to place the embryos can be seen. During the IVF process, the female partner will be prescribed oestrogen tablets for the uterus to be in its most receptive state and for the embryo to have a greater chance of success for engraftment. A successful pregnancy can be detected through a blood test 12 days after embryo transfer.

IVF Success Factors Affecting Operations

In the small island of the age of the parents, the father's sperm count candidate has better morphology and function, mothers are among the factors that increase the chance of success in having a healthy uterus.

Previously, unsuccessful attempts, hormonal imbalances, polyps, and fibroids were located in the uterus. The uterus is attached, and under stress conditions, the candidate is among the factors that reduce the chance of success.

Blastocyst transfer includes techniques to enhance the chances of success, endometrial co-culture, but with the help of tomurcukl (assisted hatching), such techniques can be applied.
